How to refund a transaction with a payment terminal?

Cancel the last transaction

With a Wallee payment terminal

To cancel the last sale from a Walle payment terminal, all you have to do from the payment terminal is :

  1. Press the “Menu” button (the 3 straight lines) on the terminal ;
  2. Select “Cancel” from the menu;
  3. Enter the cancellation code for your Wallee terminal;
  4. The terminal will display the amount of the last transaction performed. Check that the amount is correct, then press “Validate” to cancel the transaction;
  5. The terminal will then ask you to confirm the cancellation. Press “Yes” to continue;
  6. Wait for the terminal to confirm the cancellation of the transaction, then print the customer ticket.

With a SumUp payment terminal

To cancel the last sale from a SumUp payment terminal, simply, from the payment terminal, :

  1. Open the SumUp application on your smartphone or tablet;
  2. Click on the “Sales History” icon at the bottom right of the screen;
  3. Find the transaction you wish to cancel and click on it;
  4. Click on the “Cancel transaction” button;
  5. Confirm that you want to cancel the transaction by clicking “Yes”.

The refund will be automatically credited to the customer’s payment card. Note that refunds may take up to 7 business days to process and appear on the customer’s statement.

With an Ingenico Move 5000 mobile payment terminal

To cancel the last sale from an Ingenico Move 5000 mobile payment terminal, simply, from the payment terminal keyboard

  1. enter the menu with the “;
  2. go to “2. cancellation” ;
  3. enter the code 1111 and validate;
  4. check that the amount to be cancelled is correct, then validate to definitively cancel the transaction; you will be asked to print the customer ticket which will allow him to check that his sale has been cancelled.

If you need to cancel an older sale, a refund must be made to a payment card. The procedure is described in the chapter “Refund to a payment card” below.

With a Yomani fixed payment terminal

To cancel the last sale made on a Yomani payment terminal, you can follow these steps:

  1. Press the “Cancel” button on the payment terminal;
  2. Enter the amount of the transaction to be cancelled and confirm by pressing “OK” ;
  3. If necessary, insert the payment card used for the transaction to be cancelled;
  4. Follow the terminal’s instructions to cancel the transaction;
  5. Once the cancellation is made, the terminal will display a confirmation ticket.

Note that it can take up to 24 hours for a transaction cancellation to appear on the customer’s statement.


Refund on a payment card

With a Wallee payment terminal

In order to refund an older transaction, it is necessary to have the customer’s payment card and to follow the following instructions:

  1. Press the “Menu” button (the 3 straight lines) on the terminal ;
  2. Select “Crédit” on the main menu ;
  3. Enter the admin password of your terminal ;
  4. Enter the amount to credit on the customer card ;
  5. Insert the customer’s payment card into the terminal;
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the refund;
  7. Print the customer receipt if necessary.

With a SumUp payment terminal

In order to refund an older transaction, it is necessary to have the customer’s payment card and to follow the following instructions:

  1. Open the SumUp application on your smartphone or tablet;
  2. Click on the “Sales History” icon at the bottom right of the screen;
  3. Find the transaction you wish to refund and click on it;
  4. Click on the “Refund” button;
  5. Insert the customer’s payment card into the terminal;
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the refund.

The refund will be automatically credited to the customer’s payment card. Note that refunds may take up to 7 business days to process and appear on the customer’s statement.

With an Ingenico Move 5000 mobile payment terminal

In order to refund an older transaction, it is necessary to have the customer’s payment card and to follow the following instructions:

  1. enter the menu with the “;
  2. go to “6. Main” ;
  3. then “1. transactions” ;
  4. then “3. credit”;
  5. enter the code 1111 and validate
  6. you can then enter the amount to be credited and validate.
  7. The terminal prompts you to present the card.
  8. Finally, the terminal validates the credit, and invites you to print the customer receipt.

With a Yomani fixed payment terminal

In order to refund an older transaction, it is necessary to have the customer’s payment card and to follow the following instructions:

  1. Open the Yomani application on your smartphone or tablet;
  2. Click on the “Sales History” option;
  3. Select the transaction to be refunded;
  4. Press “Refund” and insert the customer’s payment card;
  5. Follow the terminal instructions to complete the refund.
